As a fabrication technique for developing scaffolds for tissue engineering, three-dimensional printing has a lot of potential. The range of biomaterials that can be utilized in this method affects the uses of 3D printing in the fields of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. To facilitate their usage in 3D printing techniques, numerous researchers have created novel biomaterials and compositions. There are many benefits to making scaffolds with 3D printing, such as the capacity to design complicated geometries, porosities and co-culture of numerous cells. The present review emphasizes on innovative biomaterials utilized in various 3D printing methods for clinical applications. The most prevalent types of medical 3D printing technologies like extrusion-based bioprinting, inkjet, and Laser-assisted bioprinting as well as their clinical applications, various types of biomaterials currently employed by researchers, and significant drawbacks are discussed in detail.
